History
Kitty Hawk amps were built in Germany by the brothers Roy.
For what I have understand, they brother had a argument of some sort and one of the brothers ended up in the Netherlands and started building Kitty Hawk amps as part of a Musical Instrument Shop in Hengelo (O.V.).
The M series was a good example of the Dutch production line Amps.
Technical issues with your Kitty Hawk!
The last German build series amps had some really big issues with the power amp and power amp transformer.
Later on, also problems where identified in the pre-amp models.
In that specific time, I worked for that Musical Instrument Shop as a repair tech, and I was heavily involved with identifying and develop solutions for all problems with Kitty Hawk amps.
The solutions I found were included in the later problem free models.
Although there were production and design flaws, there were also quality issues with Power Vacuum tubes.
Sold!
The complete production line, in the end was sold to a new Dutch owner, and Mr. Roy started a very successful Litho print shop and Art Gallery in Germany.
Kitty Hawk Service…..now what!
Being aware that there are still lots of German and Dutch production line amps in use there are many users that need service for their amps.
The Original Transformers are not available anymore, but luckily there are very good alternatives and there is Always the option to have transformers build especially for your defect Kitty Hawk Amp.
And yes, this also goes for the Quatro and Testarossa pre-amps.
